The Concert Guide
Introduction - The Who Concert Guide
Welcome to the new version of the Who Concert Guide. I have added a lot of features to this new version, but mainly at all I decided to release this version with a new design.
This version is planned to be the last. If you find bugs, any mistakes in the dates or when you have adds, reviews, new shows, pictures or something else, please send them to this E-Mail-address: info@thewholive.de
I like to thank a few people for their help and inspiration: Chris Sorg, Carrie Pratt, Maria from thewhotour.com and especially Scott Smith for hosting the Guide!

The Who Concert Guide is dedicated to Keith Moon and John Entwistle.
Introduction to Version 5.0
Who are The Who? They played innumerable concerts, smashed countless guitars and destroyed many drumkits.
They were the loudest Rockband of the world, the wildest anyway, smashed hotel rooms and many scandals
paved their way.
Many critics reduce the story of the band to these few characteristics. The Concert Guide tells another
history. It tells the story of the best rockband of the world, who played on many stages all around the
world. More than 1500 concerts are listed; many reports of fans from all over world as well as newspaper
criticisms show, that the Who are the greatest Live band ever.
For nearly ten years I am working on the Concert Guide. This new release, Version 5, offers some
fundamental innovations: For the first time the Guide is databased with more fun and comfort for the
visitors: Numerous search options make it possible, to find cities,
venues and songs. In addition there are pictures, fan reports as well as newspaper criticisms.
Most of us have different memories, and I hope, that this Guide will bring back the memories.
I'd like to thank some wonderful people who helped me during the work on this new version of the Guide.
Thank you to Jan Gleitsmann, who helped when I had problems with MySQL and Php, and thanks to
Wolf Giesen for teaching the database-model. I have to say thank you to Steve Luongo for his
great help with the dates of the John Entwistle Band and Rat Race Choir. Steve, thanks for the
beautiful introduction! I also have to thank the members of my Who-Forum, especially to "Drummerboy",
who sent a lot of details to some shows.

Introduction to Version 4.0
Welcome to THE WHO CONCERT GUIDE. This is Version 4.0 of the project which started in June 1996.
In those days the idea was to use the Internet to create a helpful guide for fans of the greatest Rock'n Roll
band in the world. Many people are collecting Who-tapes and stuff like that, and many tapes-lists and books with live shows are full of mistakes. In early 1996 I decided to build a site where every Who-fan could contribute. The Internet was the perfect medium for realising this idea, because it's easy to handle and it's very easy to update the information.
What's new in Version 4.0? I didn't change too much; I added more fan-reports, more reviews and new graphics. I hope it's still easy to navigate, but I'm not sure if all people will be satisfied with the new "look" of the Guide. But the most important thing is: Please send me your memories of Who shows you attended!
And one more thing is new: I have a new mirror site. THE WHO CONCERTS GUIDE is still part of the THEWHO.NET, hosted by Scott Smith, and now it's a part of my new project THE WHO IN GERMANY, too. Please bookmark these two URLs for the Guide:
The first two versions of the Concert Guide were placed at AOL. In 1997 I asked Scott Smith to host it. Without any delay he said "yes", and TheWho.Net became the new host for the Guide. A big thank you to Scott...
Some people have helped more than others to keep the Guide alive. First of all my wife Kirsten. She had to listen to hundreds of Who-shows (and you know some are sounding really awful) and she took it with a smile (you're the best! Do you remember You Better You Bet?); John Perry was the perfect source for infos about Who shows in the sixties; Doug Petteys sent many dates and corrections and one of the most important people is Dave van Staveren who contributed in many, many ways. Thanks dave, you are a real friend!!!!!
When the project started more than four years ago there where a lot of mistakes in the Concerts Guide. But I received hundreds of E-Mails with adds, corrections, pictures, set-lists and concert-reviews. This made the Guide better and better, and it grew up to list more than 1400 shows. All the people who have contributed to the Guide are listed above. I hope I didn't forget anyone.
But the work is not over. The three surviving members of the band were and are still on the road, and there are a lot of dates missing, especially from the sixties and the early seventies. So I'm still needing the help of all Who-fans. Send any ideas, thoughts, set-lists, memories to info@thewholive.de.
